So, everything has changed. I’m now here at my folks’ house in Illinois and will reside here for an undetermined amount of time. I came here alone, and I don’t pay rent (right now). I have lots of time to think, study, and work. But it sure is different. The good news is, I still have a few Illinois friends left (besides my family being in town). Programming my redesigned personal site has been fun, albeit slow-going. I’ve really been trying to understand everything and not just accomplish what I want–even though that sounds like a good idea, I’m pretty good at getting things done in a short time by doing some research and trial and error, and then forgetting what I did and not really understanding why. Since I not only want experience with CSS and XHTML but want to really understand and learn it, I’ve spent more time than some might care to working to get things working the way I wanted, testing a lot, and trying not to compromise until I was sure I had just happened upon a bug. It is going well now, and I’m excited. Jamahl‘s advice helped, too. I still have to keep in mind his suggestion that I not get hung up on the details.
